Newly formed group, The Elder Brothers are excited to roll out their first series of videos recorded at Band Shed Records.
One of the themes of The Elder Brothers is our gratitude to be able to play great music that has meaning in people's lives. For decades Neil Young has been creating an incredible body of work. His music is similar to his public persona, courageous, direct and clear. He pulls no punches. Harvest Moon is no exception. It is a beautiful loping song with a lyric so timeless and sincere that it can stop listeners in their tracks and take them out of the madness of modern life for a few moments. In this offering Glen was able to get inside the song and capture it's soul and beauty. We hope you enjoy it.
"Nature's Way" is an edge-of-the-radar classic originally recorded by Spirit on their unrivalled 1970 release "Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus". Spirit
was freaky enough to be interesting yet too freaky for the mainstream.
They enjoyed cult status at best but had a handful of absolute gems
and Nature's Way may be their finest moment on record. Bill Pigram does
a phenomenal job of lead vocals on this arrangement (while drumming no
less!) and this is the first completed tune of a Video session shot live
with a few post-production clean ups.
In 1970, on a break from touring with Crosby Stills Nash, Stephen Stills recorded an album in London which caught the spirit of the times. The song is joyously chaotic and the recording included a who's who of musicians who were in London. It is a great example of pop music at the end of the 60's!
The Elder Brothers include it because it is fun to play and it lets Dave 'Benny' stretch out on the keyboards and vocals.
Some of the best protest and civil rights era songs are REGRETTABLY still relevant today. Many of these songs could be ripped from today's headlines and the Youngblood's "Get Together" (1966) is no different. It's earnest plea to choose love over fear seems more timely than ever. Glen's vocal and the bands' rich harmonies capture the reverence of the message.
